Yilong is a New York-based playwright, born and raised in Chongqing, China. His work has been produced or developed at Stella Adler Studio of Acting, East West Players, Queens Theatre, SPACE on Ryder Farm, FringeNYC, NY Indie & Hawaii 1MPF, Earle Ernst Lab Theatre, Kumu Kahua Theatre, Living Room Theatre, MOJOAA Performing Arts, and others.
Awards include Kennedy Center's Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award (The Book of Mountains and Seas), Paula Vogel Playwriting Award (June is The First Fall, 2nd Place), National Partners of the American Theatre Award for Playwriting (Joker), and Po’okela Award for Best New Play (Joker). He was the recipient of the Asian Pacific American Friends of The Theatre Playwright Scholarship, a semi-finalist for Bay Area Playwrights Festival and O'Neill Playwrights Conference, a finalist for The New Harmony Project, New York Theatre Workshop's 2050 Fellowship, and Lark’s 2018 Van Lier New Voices Playwriting Fellowship.
Yilong is resident playwright for the SERIALS at The Flea Theatre, a proud member of East West Players’ David Henry Hwang Writer’s Institute, and The Dramatist Guild of America. When he’s not writing, he’s usually Netflixing, people watching, or conpulsively liking cat pics on Instagram.
