Yilong’s work has been produced and developed at Kumu Kahua Theatre, New York International Fringe Festival, New York Indie Theatre One Minute Play Festival, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and East West Players. Awards include Kennedy Center's Paula Vogel Playwriting Award (2nd Place Recipient, 2017), National Partners of the American Theatre Award for Playwriting (KCACTF Regional, 2015), Asian Pacific American Friends of the Theatre Writing Scholarship (2016), and two Hawaii State Theatre Council Po’okela Awards for Original Script (2015 & 2016). He received a BA in Chinese Classical Literature from Beijing Normal University (China) and an MFA in Playwriting from University of Hawai‘i. Yilong is a member of East West Players’ David Henry Hwang Writer’s Institute and The Dramatist Guild of America. Yilong was born and raised in Chongqing, China.
