​Yilong Liu is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School's Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program. His play The Book of Mountains and Seas received the Lambda Literary Award for Drama and won Second Place in the BBC Popcorn Writing Award at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His play Good Enemy premiered off-Broadway at Minetta Lane Theatre produced by Audible Theater. Yilong has been a Core Writer at the Playwrights' Center, a Playwrights Realm Writing Fellow, a Dramatists Guild Foundation Playwriting Fellow, a member of EST/Youngblood and the BMI Musical Theatre Bookwriting Workshop, a SPACE on Ryder Farm resident, and an artist-in-residence at Sala Beckett in Barcelona with PlayCo, where his play We Borrowed Brokenness was performed and published in Catalan. 

​Yilong holds commissions from Audible Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and Yangtze Rep. Other awards include Kennedy Center's Paula Vogel Playwriting Award and the Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award. Other plays include: We Borrowed Brokenness (Alliance Theatre Kendeda Finalist, O'Neill Finalist); Everything I Learned in America, I Learned on Grindr (Orchard Project, NYTW Mondays @3 Series); Joker (Kumu Kahua Theatre, National Queer Theater); June is the First Fall (Yangtze Rep, Yun Theatre); PrEP Play (New Conservatory Theatre Center); and Good Enemy (Audible Theater, Ojai Playwrights Festival). 

Yilong grew up in China and received his MFA from University of Hawai'i. He's a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America and The Writers Guild of America. When he’s not writing, he’s often found cooking, people-watching, or invading the personal space of cats in New York City.
