Yilong is a New York-based playwright, originally from Chongqing, China. Currently, he is a resident playwright in the SERIALS Writers Room at The Flea Theatre, and a member of Ensemble Studio Theatre's Obie Award-winning playwrights group Youngblood.
Awards include an EST/Sloan New Play Commission (Curb), Kennedy Center's Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award (The Book of Mountains and Seas), Paula Vogel Playwriting Award (June is The First Fall), National Partners of the American Theatre Award for Playwriting (Joker), and Po’okela Award for Best New Play (Joker). He was the recipient of the Asian Pacific American Friends of The Theatre Playwright Scholarship, a semi-finalist for Bay Area Playwrights Festival and O'Neill Playwrights Conference, a finalist for The New Harmony Project, and Lark’s 2018 Van Lier New Voices Playwriting Fellowship.
His work has been produced or developed at SPACE on Ryder Farm, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, East West Players, Queens Theatre, FringeNYC, Union Theatre (London), CAATA, New Ohio Theatre, Kumu Kahua Theatre, Living Room Theatre, and others. When he’s not writing, he’s usually Netflixing, people watching, or compulsively liking cat pics on Instagram.

Yilong will join director Michael Leibenluft for a workshop in China for Liang Shang Project, a bilingual musical.
Yilong has just received an EST/Sloan Project Commission to write a new play, currently titled Curb.

Yilong receives a Greenhouse Playwriting Mentorship Residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm as part of the 2018 season.
Yilong has been awarded The WildWind Performance Lab Playwriting Fellowship in Lubbock, Texas.
The Book of Mountains and Seas is the winner of Kennedy Center's Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award.
The Book of Mountains and Seas is a semifinalist for O'Neill Playwrights Conference and Bay Area Playwrights Festival.
